Race Equality in Research steering group member
Parkinson’s affects people of all ethnicities and races, but we know that the majority of people involved in Parkinson’s research in the UK are White. To deliver a better understanding of Parkinson’s as well as treatments and care for everyone, we urgently need this to change.
That’s why Parkinson’s UK is working on a project to drive forward race equality in Parkinson’s research. We’re looking for people with Parkinson’s and their family, friends and carers, as well as researchers, professionals and community leaders from Black, Asian or Mixed Race backgrounds to join this project steering group. Your input and lived experience is key to shaping and guiding this important work.
We would like volunteers from all sections of the community to feel welcome at Parkinson’s UK, irrespective of race, ethnicity, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, health status, marital status, religion or belief. We actively encourage people with Parkinson’s or who are affected by Parkinson’s to apply. Our volunteer roles are intended to be accessible and flexible, now and as your needs and circumstances change.
