Editorial Board Member - 'The Parkinson' Magazine
The Parkinson is our information and support magazine, packed with real life stories, expert insights and tips from people living with Parkinson’s, to help people live well with the condition.
We’re looking for enthusiastic new members to join The Parkinson editorial board and play a part in helping shape issues.
The board is made up of people affected by Parkinson’s - people may be living with the condition, or have a loved one, family member or friend who does - and Parkinson’s UK staff.
The group meets before each issue of the magazine is published to advise the editorial team on the content, tone and layout of the magazine. They also have the opportunity to suggest ideas for future issues.
Who are we looking for?
- People with experience of Parkinson’s – whether you’re living with the condition, or have a loved one, family member or friend who does – who can give measured, honest and constructive feedback on each issue.
- A mix of ages, and it doesn’t matter whether you’re newly diagnosed or have been living with the condition for a number of years.
- People from all sections of the community, irrespective or race, ethnicity, gender, disability sexual orientation, religion or belief.
- Voices from across the UK, so are particularly keen to hear from you if you are living in Northern Ireland, Scotland or Wales and we will support you to feed into meetings remotely.
We’re not looking for people who have experience in writing, editing or journalism. This role is about offering an opinion on content based on your personal experience of living with Parkinson’s and what matters to you. We’ll be selecting to ensure a diverse mix of people affected by Parkinson’s on the Editorial Board.
We’re looking for volunteers able to get started for our next editorial board meeting, on 19 October 2022.
We would like volunteers from all sections of the community to feel welcome at Parkinson’s UK, irrespective of race, ethnicity, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, health status, marital status, religion or belief. We actively encourage people with Parkinson’s or who are affected by Parkinson’s to apply. Our volunteer roles are intended to be accessible and flexible, now and as your needs and circumstances change. Whilst we welcome applications from those of all ages 16 and over, please note that for some of our roles you must be over 18 years old.
