Do you have a connection to Parkinson’s? Perhaps you live with the condition or know someone who does? We know that the Parkinson’s community is passionate, highly-skilled, determined and powerful. At Parkinson’s UK, we want to ensure our community can shape and influence what we do at every level.

The participation and involvement team at Parkinson’s UK supports colleagues and people living with Parkinson’s to work towards achieving the charity’s strategic goals through collaboration. We plan to host a small event to enhance colleagues' understanding of shared decision-making with those who have lived experience of Parkinson’s. We're recruiting volunteers to help plan and deliver this event. You will collectively decide what sessions and key messages we deliver to Parkinson's UK colleagues on the day.

The desired outcomes of the event sessions are:

  1. To demonstrate best practice in working with people living with Parkinson’s
  2. To boost the confidence of Parkinson’s UK staff in collaborating with people living with Parkinson’s
  3. To enhance knowledge and understanding of the barriers faced by people living with Parkinson's and how to work in a Parkinson's-friendly manner
  4. To raise the profile of the impact the Parkinson’s community has on our work here at Parkinson's UK

The event will be held on the 3rd July 2025 at our central London office. We would encourage and welcome you to attend the event, either in person or online.

Meeting times and commitment:

Meeting location: Online Meeting frequency: Fortnightly (to be confirmed by the group) until end of June 2025

We are committed to working flexibly and will overcome any barriers you may have to joining online meetings, so please let us know if you need any support with this. We welcome applicants from all over the UK.

Parkinson’s UK is committed to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusivity in our volunteer recruitment processes. Parkinson’s can affect anyone, making it essential that our volunteers reflect the diverse community we are part of.
